Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) of Lymph Node

The lymph node usually shows extensive infiltration by histiocytes, which have bland morphology and abundant cytoplasm. The touch imprints typically reveal characteristic "negative imaging" which numerous mycobacterial organisms that do not stain. The cytoplasm of histiocytes is filled with bacteria, better seen with AFB staining.
