Case 295 - Discussion

Hematopathology Case

The cytogenetic and FISH studies on the current bone marrow biopsy detected +8 in most of marrow cells, thus consistent with persistent AML; interestingly, the blasts lost CD34 expression as detected in the previous case. Also, the blasts resemble promyelocytes with large size, moderately delicate chromatin and often perinuclear hof; however, most of the blasts have a prominent nucleolus and abnormal aggregation of intracytoplasmic granules.
