Clinical Information
  An 82-year-old female had a cavitary lesion of the left breast.
Gross Description
 

The left modified radial mastectomy specimen measures 20.0 15.0 6.0 cm entirely with gray-tan skin that measures 16.0 11.0 cm. There is an attached axillary tail measuring 11.0 6.0 2.5 cm. In the center of the specimen is a 4.0 cm fresh surgical scar that is 2.0 cm under the nipple; 6.0 cm below the nipple is a deep ulcer that measures 1.5 1.0 cm; 4.0 cm to the left of the nipple is an ulcer that measures 1.0 0.5 cm; 0.5 cm to the scar and nipple is a cavity that measures 4.0 3.0 3.0 cm filled with red-tan clots. The cavity is 0.3 cm from the deep margin. The wall of the cavity is firm to white-yellow, ranging from 0.3 to 1.2 cm thick making the maximum tumor size 5.2 cm.
