Clinical Information
  A 78-year-old female had a right breast mass.
Gross Description
 

The modified radical mastectomy specimen with axillary contents measures 21.0 13.0 4.0 cm and weighs 522 grams. The skin ellipse measures 12.0 7.0 cm. There is an old scar measuring 3.5 cm in the lateral lower quadrant of the skin ellipse which is 1.0 cm from the nipple. The skin surface is otherwise unremarkable. Sections through the specimen reveals a poorly demarcated, white, firm mass measuring 5.0 3.5 3.0 cm with central hemorrhage and necrosis. The mass is 1.0 cm from the deep margin. A small, white, firm nodule measuring 0.9 0.8 0.6 cm is identified 0.6 cm from the deep margin.
