  Monomorphic Adenoma (Benign Myoepithelioma) of Parotid Gland
 
  • Benign tumor, consists of sheets and islands of various proportions of spindle, plasmacytoid, epithelioid, oncycytic and clear cells that exhibit myoepithelial but not ductal differentiation;

  • Rare or no ducts;

  • May have abundant, acellular, mucoid, or hyalinized stroma, but no chondroid or myxochondroid foci;

  • Reactive to cytokeratin, SMA, S100, GFAP and vimentin;

  • DDX: mixed adenoma, nerve sheath tumor, fibrous histiocytoma, nodular fasciitis, leiomyoma, and synovial sarcoma.
