Type I RPGN (Anti-GBM Antibody)
  • Causes:

    • Idiopathic

    • Anti-GBM Antibody

    • Goodpasture syndrome: HLA-DRB1, pulmonary hemorrhage associated with renal failure

  • Immunofluorescence: linear deposits of IgG and, in many cases, C3 in the GBM

Type II RPGN (Immune Complex)
  • Causes:

    • Idiopathic

    • Postinfectious

    • Systemic lupus erythematosus

    • Henoch-Schönlein purpura (IgA)

    • Others

  • Immunofluorescence: granular immune deposits.

Type III RPGN (Pauci-Immune)
  • Causes:

    • p-ANCA or c-ANCA associated

    • Idiopathic

    • Wegener granulomatosis

    • Microscopic polyarteritis nodosa/microscopic polyangiitis

  • Immunofluorescence: little or no immune deposits
