WHO Classification of Hematopathology Neoplasms

B-Cell Neoplasms

  1. Precursor B-cell neoplasm:

    • Precursor B-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma

  2. Mature (peripheral) B-cell neoplasms

T-Cell and Natural Killer Cell Neoplasms

  1. Precursor T cell neoplasm:

    • Precursor T-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia

  2. Mature (peripheral) T cell and NK-cell neoplasms

Hodgkin's lymphoma (Hodgkin's Disease)

  1. Nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin's lymphoma

  2. Classical Hodgkin's lymphoma

Acute Myeloid Leukemia

  1. Acute myeloid leukemia with recurrent genetic abnormalities
  2. Acute myeloid leukemia with multilineage dysplasia
    • Following MDS or MDS/MPD
    • Without antecedent MDS or MDS/MPD, but with dysplasia in at least 50% of cells in 2 or more myeloid lineages
  3. Acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes, therapy related
    • Alkylating agent/radiation-related type
    • Topoisomerase II inhibitor-related type (some may be lymphoid)
  4. Acute myeloid leukemia, not otherwise categorized
    • Acute myeloid leukemia, minimally differentiated
    • Acute myeloid leukemia without maturation
    • Acute myeloid leukemia with maturation
    • Acute myelomonocytic leukemia
    • Acute monoblastic/acute monocytic leukemia
    • Acute erythroid leukemia (erythroid/myeloid and pure erythroleukemia)
    • Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia
    • Acute basophilic leukemia
    • Acute panmyelosis with myelofibrosis
    • Myeloid sarcoma

Chronic Myeloproliferative Diseases

  • Chronic myelogenous leukemia [Ph chromosome, t(9;22)(q34;q11), BCR/ABL-positive]
  • Chronic neutrophilic leukemia
  • Chronic eosinophilic leukemia (and the hypereosinophilic syndrome)
  • Polycythemia vera
  • Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis (with extramedullary hematopoiesis)
  • Essential thrombocythemia
  • Chronic myeloproliferative disease, unclassifiable

Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Diseases

  • Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia
  • Atypical chronic myeloid leukemia
  • Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia
  • Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative disease, unclassifiable

Myelodysplastic Syndromes
