Hematopathology Case

 

CLINICAL INFORMATION

 

A 45 years old male, status post bowel resection for 2 years due to Crohn's disease, recently increasing weakness. Weekly Procrit injection for six months, regularly takes multivitamins for several years.

CBC results: WBC 1.1K, HGB 6.5, platelet 277K.

A bone marrow biopsy showed a cellularity of 40-60% with 8% ringed sideroblasts.
