| 54-year-old female. Pancreatic mass. | ||
| Gross Description | ||
| The specimen consists of a portion of pancreas including cystic mass (17.0 × 9.0 × 5.0 cm) and spleen (10.0 × 9.0 × 5.0 cm, 126 grams). The entire surface of pancreas including the cyst wall is inked in black and specimen is serially sectioned to reveal that the cystic mass (8.0 × 5.0 × 7.0 cm) is multicystic ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 cm. The inner lining is smooth and interior is filled with clear fluid. The cyst wall measures 0.3 cm in maximum dimension. No solid areas, areas of hemorrhage or necrosis are identified within the mass. The remaining pancreas is unremarkable. The external surface of spleen is smooth and serial cross sections reveal red-brown homogeneous parenchyma. | ||
