Electron microscopy:

The tumor consist of sheets of round, oval or short-spindle cells with a moderate amount of cytoplasm.  Inter-cellular junctions are noted.  The tumor cells have long, thin surface microvilli (length-to-diameter greater than 10:1) which are free of glyocalyx.  The cytoplasm contains moderate to abundant round mitochondria and some rough endoplasm reticulum. No other organelles are prominent.  The nuclei are round to oval, with numerous clefts, and single prominent nucleoli.
