Case 105

Surgical Pathology Case

CLINICAL INFORMATION

  20 year-old male. Testicular mass.

GROSS DESCRIPTION

The entire specimen measures 11.0 x 11.0 x 9.0 cm and portion of scrotal skin covering the mass measures 9.0 x 6.7 cm. The specimen is serially sectioned to reveal soft, tan-yellow tumor (9.0 x 8.5 x 8.5 cm) with extensive areas of hemorrhage and necrosis. In addition, areas of cystic degeneration are identified. The tumor appears to have completely replaced the testis and no residual testicular parenchyma is identified. The mass does not appear to invade scrotal skin and soft tissue resection margins are uninvolved. The epididymis at resection margin is not involved by tumor on gross examination.
