Surgical Pathology Case
 

CLINICAL INFORMATION

  63-year-old female, incidentally found to have a complex left ovarian mass with elevated CA125 at a level of 125 and some ascites. Had vaginal hysterectomy and right salpingo-oophorectomy at the age of 35 years due to dysmenorrhea.

GROSS DESCRIPTION

 

The specimen consists of one resected mass measuring 6.0 × 5.0 ×3.0 cm with attached ovary measuring 2.0 × 1.5 × 1.0 cm. The outer surface of the mass is smooth, shiny and glistening. Serial sectioning through the specimen reveals well-demarcated mass with a white-pink solid cut surface and small foci of hemorrhage.
