Case 203

Surgical Pathology Case

CLINICAL INFORMATION

  51-year-old female. Uterine mass resection.

GROSS DESCRIPTION

The fresh specimen consists of one previously opened soft tissue mass partially covered with serosa measuring 11.0 8.5 7.5 cm and weighing 385 grams. The serosal surface of the specimen is smooth and unremarkable. The cut surface of the specimen reveals a 10.0 x 8.0 cm well-demarcated tumor mass with a heterogeneously brown, pink, tan and yellow cut surface with focal necrotic areas. Serial sectioning through the specimen reveals the tumor is within 0.2 cm, but not through the serosal surface.
