| CLINICAL INFORMATION | ||
| A 35-year-old homeless man with a lengthy history of IV drug abuse presented to the emergency room with severe shortness of breath. He was admitted to the hospital and required mechanical ventilation shortly thereafter. CT scans demonstrated extensive bilateral infiltrations of the lung. He was started with multiple antibiotics but quickly declined and expired. The pre-mortem HIV test was positive. An autopsy was perforemd. | ||

| Grossly, the lungs were heavy and showed near complete consolidation. | ||
