Surgical Pathology Case
 

CLINICAL INFORMATION

  36-year-old male, presented with signs of acute appendicitis. Appendectomy was performed.

GROSS DESCRIPTION

  The appendix measures 7.0 cm in length and 1.5 cm in greatest diameter. The serosal surface is hyperemic and edematous with multifocal pale-yellow exudates. Upon serial sectioning through the specimen the lumen is filled with fecal material and the appendiceal wall measures up to 0.6 cm in thickness, without any gross perforation.
