| CLINICAL INFORMATION | ||
| 39-year-old male, right ankle bone lesion. | ||
| GROSS DESCRIPTION | ||
| The below knee amputation specimen measures 17.0 cm above the ankle, and the foot measures 28.0 cm in length and 9.0 cm in width. The lateral side of the ankle has a recent surgical incision measuring 4.0 cm in length (site of previous biopsy). Serially sectioning through the specimen sagitally reveals an 11.0 x 6.5 x 6 cm multilobular gelatinous mass in the superior-posterior 2/3 of the calcaneus bone causing marked bone expansion but not invading into the adjacent soft tissue. No other bone of the foot is involved. The soft tissue and bone at surgical margin are unremarkable (the tumor is at least 15 cm from the margin). The remaining bones are also unremarkable. | ||
