Laryngeal Chondrosarcoma

  • ~0.5% of all malignant laryngeal tumors.

  • 50-80 years of age, M:F=3:1.

  • Most common location, anterior surface of the posterior lamina of the cricoid cartilage.

  • Gross: mucosal covered mass, 2 cm or larger.

  • Micro: increase in nuclear size and cellularity; irregular distribution and aggregation of cells.

  • Prognosis: very good, rare metastasis.
