Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma

 

  • Occurs in lung (intravascular bronchiolo-alveolar tumor, IVBAT), liver and soft tissue

  • Mostly female, may a/w OCP, but not cirrhosis

  • Often multiple, in both lobes of lung or liver

  • Low-grade endothelial tumor, may metastasize

  • HE:

    • Infiltrate sinusoids and veins, tuft-like intravascular proliferation and as fibrothrombotic occlusions

    • Plump epithelioid cells or signet-ring type cells with acidophilic cytoplasm, vacuoles and RBC

    • Abundant myxoid or sclerotic stroma

  • IPX: CD34+, FVIII +
