Diagnosis: schneiderian papilloma, cylindrical/oncocytic/columnar cell type.

 

Sinonasal Papilloma (Schneiderian Papilloma)

  • Inverted type (47%)

    • Lateral nasal wall

    • Respiratory/non-keratinizing squamous epithelium

    • Transmigrating neutrophils

    • HPV6/11 most common, EBV-

    • Often recur, 10% malignancy

  • Septal/Exophytic type (50%)

    • Exophytic squamous growth, residual goblet cells

    • Malignancy rare

  • Cylindrical/Oncocytic/Columnar cell type (3%)

    • Lateral nasal wall

    • Multilayered, ciliated columnar cells, goblet cells, intra-epithelial mucin cyst

    • <10% malignant
